Making time to reconnect to your body, learn to love and nurture it, and move in natural and sustainable ways is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.

Physical wellbeing is important throughout the whole of our lives, but especially so as we move into, and beyond, the 40’s. As the body ages, there is the potential to lose flexibility and mobility, feel the impacts of changing hormones and metabolism, and experience changes in energy levels.

In our busy lives, it can be hard to make time to take care of wellbeing, and yet it is our physical and mental wellbeing that enables us to achieve everything else that is important.

Through Johanna’s Sustainable Movement classes, you give yourself the gift of time, wellbeing and connection to mind and body.

The connection between body and mind is simple but powerful. As you work with your body, and your breath, there is potential for releasing mental and physical tension. There is a strong link with emotions and physical sensations in our bodies and many of us need to learn and practice how to relax!

During classes participants are taught natural movement techniques, yoga stretches and exercises to help with improving/maintaining strength, balance, mobility and co-ordination. We also spend valuable time working on interoception and proprioception, building awareness of our own patterns of restricted movement and residual tension.

Classes are non-competitive, informal and relaxed. Participants are encouraged to do as much or as little as they feel in the moment and rest when we need.
